FONTANA, SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY — October 22, 2026. Fontana officials have outlined a two-phase affordable housing development intended to add 106 rental apartments if the full project is completed.

What the two phases include
Under the city announcement, the first phase of Fontana Courtplace includes 50 affordable apartments in two residential buildings, together with a children’s play area, multipurpose spaces, learning center, laundry facilities, bicycle storage and parking. The buildings are planned as all-electric, with rooftop solar panels.
Phase two would add 56 apartments, making a potential total of 106. This is a phased project: residents should not read the 106-unit total as evidence that every unit is already built or accepting applications.
Funding and construction timing
The official project announcement identifies a $4 million federal investment secured by Congresswoman Norma Torres, and says the first phase is expected to finish mid-to-late 2027. This is an estimated construction timeline, subject to later permits, progress and financing changes, not a guaranteed move-in date.
The developer named by the city is Related California, working with LaBarge Industries and the Foundation for Affordable Housing. The city calls the project 100% affordable; however, the announcement excerpt does not specify every household-income limit, rent, or application waiting list. Those should be confirmed through official property management documents before families make decisions.
What readers should watch for
Important follow-ups include tenant eligibility, application opening, actual rents, accessibility, site progress and whether phase two receives full approvals. California58 will not invent application dates or ask readers to pay any advance fee to an unverified intermediary.
