FONTANA, San Bernardino County — Residents reporting local street maintenance or other municipal service problems can use Fontana 311, which the city describes as a website and mobile app for submitting and tracking requests.
The city’s Community Services page highlights the Fontana 311 program and says it is designed to improve how residents contact municipal departments. The city specifically identifies street sweeping, tree maintenance and sidewalk maintenance as examples of issues that can be reported and tracked.
What belongs in a service request?
A nonemergency concern about a city-maintained facility or service is a suitable starting point. Residents should provide an accurate street address or location, describe the concern clearly and supply photos where appropriate and permitted. The 311 system does not guarantee a particular repair deadline, and the city may route some reports to different departments or other agencies.
When not to use 311
An immediate threat to life, an active fire, a violent crime or other emergency requires emergency services, not an ordinary maintenance ticket. Residents should also check whether a road is maintained by the city, the county or Caltrans, because responsibility for a reported problem can depend on jurisdiction.
For assistance beyond the online system, the Community Services Department lists its office at 17001 Upland Avenue, Suite 210, and phone 909-349-6900. Its posted office schedule is Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
